VICTORY COTTAGE

Formerly a 17th-century pub, Victory Cottage came with the challenge of transforming a Grade II listed building into a welcoming holiday let. The redesign was carried out entirely remotely and needed to be delivered quickly and within a carefully managed budget — requiring a balance between heritage sensitivities and modern practicality.

The building’s past carried a strong naval theme, which I chose to honour through subtle details and re-purposed décor from its former life. The original stone and copper fireplace became a central influence, shaping both the materiality and the colour palette. Earthy greens and warm brown tones balance and complement the richness of the copper, creating a space that feels both relaxing and characterful. Layered with a softer, neutral backdrop, the interiors remain connected to history while feeling refreshed and relevant for modern living — a transformation that has made Victory Cottage an incredibly popular Cotswolds retreat.
